I'm currently using the stock 7.5" 10bolt w/31 spline axles in my 91 Camaro but am swapping in a zexel posi unit and 3.42 gears. This is just a mod for a couple years till I can afford a better setup but I'm wondering if, until then, it's worth it to spend $140 on one of these aluminum and studded diff covers for a little extra strength(summit, trick flow both make them). I won't be launching the car on slicks and really won't be launching it hard much at all. I'm more focused on autox but the rear still will see 400lb-ft on decent street tires ex. T/A KD's 255/50/16's.

i'd say go ahead and pop for the cover...they definitely strengthen the rear.if it were my car i'd sleep better at night knowing i had done all i could to keep it alive for two years.if you think about it,140.00 is a cheap investment for two years time.i've got a 8.5 ten bolt i'm gonna get a support cover for.i like what i've heard about the T/A line of covers so i'll probably go with theirs.
