hey everyone I have a stupid question. I have a 70 SS with a 396 out of a 69 Chevelle. The motor had a flex fan on it, I'm installing the original clutch fan, but the bolts that connect the fan to the water pump are missing.
My question is what size are the bolts?
Thanks
Jimmy

Jimmy, if my memory serves me right from a couple of years ago when I had mine off, I believe they are "fine thread" bolts so not any regular bolt will do. I imagine the regular Chevelle parts suppliers would have them. I could be wrong.

thanks Don, they do look like fine thread bolts. I will keep looking.

They're just 5/16 24 X 3/4" bolts. Get grade 8 bolts. You'll be fine. Yes, they are fine thread 5/16th bolts I think it's 24 threads per inch. Just get the national fine thread in 5/16th. There's no magical bolt for the fan. Just be sure to use a flat washer and a lock washer when you're installing them.

I believe Alan is correct. Usually NAPA has them in stock by size. Lowes may also.

Try the "Help" section in your local automotive store. The "Help" section is the aisle with the parts in red packaging. Usually has a bolt kit with studs, lock washers, and nuts.
