: Need some Side Pictures of 70-72 Wagons for Photoshopping...
ChevroletR Nov 13th, 08, 1:33 AM Hello wagon guys! Alright so I'm sure some of you have seen the Hot Rod article months back that had drawings of a first-gen Monte Carlo as a wagon!? I happen to have a '70 Monte and I'm very curious what it really would look like (not from just a drawing). Hot Rod didn't know 'where to get the donor roof from' and this seemed disturbing to me: "Why not take one from a Chevelle/Malibu wagon?"
My goal is to have some of you guys send me some pictures (of your own, buddies, off the web, whatever) so I can photoshop my Monte as a two-door wagon! I wanted to do just a perpendicular side shot and any colors right now will do. I will try to find a Monte to match the color and I will continue my search online. (I am only a intro-Photo-Shopper...can't do anything with colors just yet other than cut & paste!) Thank you all in advance very much! Hopefully I can get some nice pics up for you guys too when I'm done. Thanks again!
rick piras Nov 14th, 08, 11:45 AM Damn, Ryan. That sounds like a REALLY difficult project. The roof would certainly be a challenge, but the tailgate might be a whole lot harder, especially if you went with a '69-'72 two-way tailgate (the '68's were a conventional "one-way" tailgate). It might be easier to graft a Monte front end onto en existing Chevelle wagon body? I have some pictures of my '68 wagon on our website you're welcome to work with if it helps.

Good luck!
ChevroletR Nov 14th, 08, 12:51 PM That does sound a bit easier, but I would have to include the 2-doors from the Monte. I'll check them out, thank you! And thanks for the extra info.
ChevroletR Nov 14th, 08, 1:00 PM BEAUTIFUL Cars, Rick!!!!!!!! I want a wagon so bad. What kind of Boyd wheels are those on your Chevelle? They look great! I'm looking for a really nice 5-spoke too for the Monte. Last, do you know the backspacing on them?
rick piras Nov 15th, 08, 10:49 AM Ryan,
Thanks for the compliment. I'm trying to find my receipt for the wheels, but I thought the model were called Rebels. I just looked at the Coddington website but don't see them listed anymore. I'll keep trying to find the paperwork, but going off memory, I think the backspacing was 4-1/2 on the fronts and 5-1/2 on the backs.
ChevroletR Nov 15th, 08, 4:20 PM Looks great man. I hope you don't mind but it's on my computer's desktop now! :)
The wagon looks so long to try to make a 2-door out of using Monte sheetmetal. That would be a huge door! Using a Chevelle/Malibu wagon with the Monte doors/skins and front clip would probably be easier but still I'm wondering how bad it would be to cut some out of the back-half of the wagon. I'll have to mess with some Photoshopping...
FO_FDYFO Nov 24th, 08, 9:34 AM i have a photoshopped 2 door chevelle wagon on my web site. it isnt that long if you put the full quarter pannel on from an elky.

ChevroletR Nov 24th, 08, 12:45 PM Thanks Pete, but I don't see a 2-door wagon on your site anywhere. I saw the photoshopped hardtop, 4 door however. Where do I need to click?
FO_FDYFO Nov 24th, 08, 3:14 PM its under the tubbed wagon
ChevroletR Nov 24th, 08, 3:49 PM Ahh at the very bottom. Very nice! Keep us posted. Can't wait to see her done! I like the rack and pinion as well. Did you fabricate that yourself? I'm looking to do power rack and pinion but didn't want to spend $2,000+ from flaming river for a kit. What a weight reduction, huh?
