dpvoiceguy Nov 12th, 08, 11:17 AM I work for a metal fabricator, so this was particularly intersting to me. Thought I'd share it:

68bye Nov 12th, 08, 11:50 AM Neat. I didn't know that Ford did that. Of course the most famous stainless steel car was the DeLorean. I wonder if that's where he got the idea from? Very interesting.

Chevelle505cid Nov 12th, 08, 3:37 PM I have visited that plant on buisness looking at a new contol system for our 3 stand hot mill. Allegeny Ludlum does make some very interesting products indeed. Never knew they did this with Ford. Very cool indeed! Thank you Tom.

i was at a show and about 5 delorians all showed up together. they were all polishing theirs with SOS pads... had to go with the "grain" or it would all look scratched up is what the guy told me
Dean Nov 12th, 08, 5:19 PM Back in around 1960 my X boss had a 36 Stainless Steel Ford.
He had it parked across the street from the gas station where I worked and I kept trying to get him to sell it to me but no dice.
It looked like a regular old ford to me because it was painted (dark blue as I recall)
Don't know what ever happened to it when he passed away.

Now Bill if ya had said Mopar...they would be a no brainer :D.
Bomber '67 Nov 13th, 08, 2:01 AM Ford actually did several promotional stainless steel cars over the years - I can't remember the other years and models. Because stainless steel is harder on the body panel stamping die machines, they would make them at the end of the die's service life.
