I currently have lunati 235/240 duration @ .050 with a .490 lift.(112 ls) This is a flat tappet hydrualic cam. I have good low end torque....but top end is not all there. I may go hydraulic roller and up the duration just a tad........but add something like .550 lift along with it. What do you guys think? I have holley heads good to .600" lift.

Go for a solid cam

How are your valve springs b/c I would figure that a hy- cam should go up to almost 6500 if everything is set up OK.

Min. lash, good springs, grind, etc..

PS., and I'm talking about an 1/8th to a 1/4 turn down or so for right at min. lash b/c any tighter and you just might pop a hy- lifter lock-ring?? I know I did one time!!

I can pull to 6500 with no problem.........except my current cam peters out at 6200 as far as pulling goes. Plus thats about where max hp is according to the spec's and the dyno. Heads were put on last year. Holley heads (aluminum) Dual spring arangement 130 seat pressure and 340 open.

I think your present cam is just fine. No use making the disparity between the stall speed and the torque peak any larger than it is. I'd be looking at a different tranny, like a TH350, a higher stall speed, and a revamped exhaust system.

My exhaust is pretty decent......3" all the way. I am leaning toward slapping the bottle on it. Its the best bang for the buck. Thanks for you input. When the th400 goes out........a th350 will go back in it. ;)

How about porting the heads? A good solid cam will make more power. I would look at the famous, 243, 251 lunita cam. I would think it would work mint. The springs are fine.

Then again, if you just put the holley kit on a smogger 350 you aint gonna make there power level anyway

Smogger 350  Not sure what you mean? No smog equipment on this car. TRW forged pistons--10:1 CR, I did open up the entry ports of the heads by almost a 1/4" and cleaned up the exhaust ports. Could they use more porting.........sure. I have decent flow....maybe not "good" flow but decent.
