I have recently purchased a 64 el camino but the driver's side of the frame is bad in 3 spots. What frames are the same as the el camino? I know where there is a 1964 four door, will the front part of the frame be the same so that I could cut a section out and patch it in? Thanks

Yes, the 4 door would have the same front parts. Otherwise, wagons also use the same frame too.

If that four-door frame is a good one, you may want to clean it up and use it. I believe the difference is only at the very back end of the El Camino/ Wagon frame, which you could fab up or use from yours if its good.
I'ts great to have a running ride while you perform major work on the underpinnings in your garage!

64-67 same
All bodies used the same chassis-----but---
ElCamino and converts were boxed between the wheels.

If your frame is bad----why not commission someone to cut the box from the original and weld it to the 4dr frame

The El Camino frame is longer from the rear axle to the rear bumper too. He'd be better off taking portions of the 4-door frame and fixing the front of his EC frame. BUT, if the front of the frame is that rough it may have issues elsewhere too.

The El Camino and wagon frames are entirely interchangeable, but the wagon frame is not boxed like the El Camino frame.

Shame your not closer to Az, I have a decent 67 ElCamino roller frame I'd like to get rid of.

Thanks for your info. Have you ever unboxed a "boxed" frame before? I just looked at a 4 door frame in a junk yard and it looked good except that it is not boxed. The origional welds on the boxed frames look like my 7 year old daughter performed them so I am sure that I could duplicate them but it sounds like a major project. Thanks again for your assistance.
