I posted this question on the Chevelle side, but no response yet! Can someone on Team el Camino help??? Does anybody know how many 68 L-79 el Caminos were produced? I still have my first car... a 1968 el Camino bench seat factory manual floor shift. Numbers DO match and the suffix on the 327 is EP, which should be special high performance 325 hp L-79. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Chevrolet records for this level detail don't exist.
But, Statistical Calculations indicate around 420, majority of those the custom Malibu variety.
Is yours standard or custom?

One of the members in our club claims to have a relative with a 68 L-79 El Camino thats still original. The catch, its sitting on a lifted truck frame.:sad:
