: Aluminum radiators...
jaxx1972 Nov 9th, 08, 9:05 PM There is a store on ebay called classic radiators that sells aluminum radiators for chevelles for $200 > I was wondering if anyone had bought one of these or have heard anything about these radiators. Sounds kinda cheap to me. Thanks
the heckler Nov 9th, 08, 10:10 PM I bought an el cheapo aluminum radiator for my 67 from alumorad. found it on the internet. while it had "made in china" stamped on the box, it has worked out good so far. one year. it does not have the tank form of the original harrison 4 core but it is cooling better with only 2 large cores. it bolted up and would have used the orginal shroud but I used a chrome job from transdapt....it was about 180 bucks vs 600 or so for an original replacement...

DrThunder Nov 10th, 08, 1:40 PM Bought one also about year and half ago, cools much better than the old 4 core even being a 2 core. The trick is the cores are an inch wide. No fitment issues at all.
lowrollin70gmc Nov 10th, 08, 7:53 PM I have an eBay aluminum radiator and was pleased with it's fit and finish. Even had the trans lines in the right spot.

I'm with everyone above, he makes a beautiful radiator. I defy anyone to find one better.
Jaybo518 Nov 11th, 08, 3:06 PM I bought one from Classic Radiators and although I haven't ran it on the street yet it looks great and fits fine. I used it to break in my new 468 and it didn't get much above 200 even with a 195 stat. You can say what you want about where it is made, but being on a budget that is already tight, this was the only way for me to go.

Actually, China has a large aluminum fabrication industry with a reputation for producing high quality, world class aluminum products.
In fact, the majority of high quality products in your home were most likely produced or outsourced elsewhere...high definition flat screen televisions, home or car stereos, computers, etc...etc...etc.
Even the "all American" Harley Davidson has outsourced parts from other countries.
That's just the reality of the world and the global economy of today.
Just because something says "Made in the USA" no longer means that it is of higher quality, as perhaps was the case 40 years ago.
In fact, sometimes just the opposite is the case.

PCB67SS Nov 11th, 08, 5:45 PM Trust me I have a bedroom almost half full of Chinese junk that just didn't measure up.....If and thats a big IF you happen to get something that works and fits from offshore consider yourself lucky. I bought one of Don's Radiators last Christmas and have never even had it out of the box, just opened the top to admire it.....But in another week or so I'll be ready for it and I'd be willing to wager it will fit perfect and preform flawlessly. But bottom line is it comes down to budget.....if its in the cards give Don a shout.
