I'm looking to rebuild my 307 sbc. I was wondering how far the block can be bored to? How much would it cost to bore the block and machine it? I'm under the impression I can use up to a 4.000 inch stroke. How much displacement can I get out of this engine?

Here is some info on another post that you might find your answer in. Lots of good info there.

Looks like it could be bored to 312 cubes.

Steve,
If you are looking for the most cubic inches possible, you are probably better off starting with a different block. The 307 is a small bore engine (3.875 vs 4.0(350) vs 4.125 (400 block)), that has a short stoke (3.25 vs 3.48(350) vs 3.75(400)). I am not sure how much you can bore them or if the block can be made to take such a long stroke. I would look at finding a 350 block and make it into a 383 or a 400 block and build a 406. IMHO it would be less trouble and a safer approach.
