I am thinking about putting buckets seats in my 70 Chevelle that has a bench seat in it now. Has anyone built these new seats from all new parts? If so, what is the quality of the finished product? Also, are these parts made from the same manufacturer, or are there different (better) ones out there?
Thanks

As far as I know, there are no new parts for the actual structure of the seat(frame). You will have to find old A68-72 A body seats and have them recovered and new foam. They do make repo head rest and the plastic seatbacks, brackets also.

Check with a PUI distributor. They make the complete seats for 1st gen Camaros now. I thought I had seen them for GM A body too.

Not trying to be a wise guy but you really need to start checking sponsor sites like Year One and SS396. You'll be happy you did.
Seat parts are readily available, frames, springs, foam, backs, fronts, sides, slides, buttons, (and bows).

I had thought of this, But the bare seat frames are pretty expensive, and in most cases shouldn't wear or break... I think they are like $330 each... $700 with shipping... That make most "cores" sound pretty reasonable
I need to replace one set of bottom springs, and I am trying to decide if I should just replace the backs too (its only money)... Its getting pricey...

I've got an extra set of Bucket seats out of a 72 ss car, no headrest though and they need all new foam & covers. If enyone needs them PM me, I'm in Maryland.

I realize all the parts are available. I was just wondering what the quality of the reproduction parts is? I have seen the metal structural part at swap meets and they look pretty cheaply made. Maybe that's the way the factory ones were made also. I was just wondering if anyone has made complete bucket seats for a 70 Chevelle from scratch and are they satisfied with the finished product?
Thanks

Sorry, I read your question wrong. I thought you were looking for a source of complete seats.
