The heads for my new 454 will be some Brodix Race Rites, and the cam will be a 402A3LUN cut on a 112 LSA, as per UDHarold (and 427L88). The specs are 276/284 at .020, 243/251 at .050, .586/.600 valve lift, and 110 LSA (though again this will be cut on 112LSA). So, what type of springs should I order with my Race Rites? Also any sort or rocker arm/ratio and pushrods that would go better with this setup? I'm wanting to stay with the stock BBC chrome valve covers like the '70's had. I'm not sure how to go about this and think I probably need to know.

Here's the main thread for reference, thanks..

Any advice for this one?

You will need to go with either a thick VC gsk or double thin ones to get stock VC's to clear RR's.
You'll need long slot grooved ball rockers or RR's depending on your preference. Harland Sharps are the best value and are plenty strong AL RR's.

Comp magnum 3/8 push rods if they come long enough or you'll need to go to a 4130 rod such as TrickFlows which are about the cheapest. Then Crane are the next cheapest IIRC. You'll need to verify pushrod length due to the non stock heads. More than likely you'll need .050 to .100 longer than stock.

427L88 uses Crane 99893's for springs IIRC.
They work fine, but are a little stiff over the nose and lite on the seat from what I've been told for similar setups by various machinist's. Lunati recommends a 140/400 spring which is on the stiff side on the nose but all they have to match Harolds' grinds.
This exact spring is one of the options on RR heads. # LU73021.
If you ask UDH he'll say 140/340 for a 288/296 which is the same lobe family as the 276/284.
And 125/325 will work. Crower and CC both have springs to fit the 140/340 spec. But I can't recall the #. Since Brodix runs CC springs, You should be able to get them with whatever you want.
Check out CC 914's. CC springs pdf (http://www.compcams.com/Technical/CurrentCatalog/HTML/340-349.asp)
You'll need to run a spring cup with these springs due to their smaller diameter, but should be fine with the RR 1.95 install height.
