Howdy gang, its been a while since I last posted. I've been quiet busy and really haven't had the time to be on the puter. I started a new project and thought I'd let ya'll in on whats up. After consulting with several experts I've decided to step up and build a blown and injected (EFI) 540 for a 68 Chevelle. The engine goes like this:

Steve Schmidt built long block:
Dart Big M, Tall deck, 4.5 bore
Callis magnum crank, 4.25 stroke
Oliver blower billet rods, 6.8 length
JE blower pistons, Thermal barrier coated, 8.7:1 comp, tool steel pins
Hell Fire rings
Schmidt alumn. pan
Comp custom grind cam, solid roller 255/262 @ .50 647/650 lift on a 114 LSA
Crower .903 lifters with HIPPO option
AFR 357 CNC heads
2.30 SS intakes, 1.88 inconel exhaust valves
Jessel Shaft rockers
Roller Springs, 290 lbs on seat, 650 open
Dart intake, welded injector bungs and Wilson 4500 series elbow with 95 mm throttle body

Pan Handle Performance is handling the complete induction system. At this point we haven't decided on the ECM or blower but we are looking at the Accel DFI and the F2R or F3C Procharger.

The car is slated to go to a chassis shop for a 10.5 outlaw chassis build up.

Sorry for the long post, got to get ready for work....got some bills to pay for, check ya'll later,

Rob

Rob,

Make sure you tell Comp Cams that you will be using .903" roller lifters, as they have a larger roller diameter =(the Wheel is about .810") than regular .842 lifters(the Wheel is .750").
The reason I am telling you this is that if you decide to check your cam with the .810" roller instead of the .750", the cam will give a 'funny' duration number.
Roller cam models/masters are cut for a given base circle diameter and a given roller follower diameter----Different diameters, apparantly different numbers.

BTW, you won't need a blower for 10.50s......
Just up the CR to 10.5:1....

Thats interesting Herald. I would have never thought that changing the size of the lifter would alter duration of the cam. I'm fairly confident that SSCE has accounted for that, but I'll ask the question anyways.

And Herald, I think you read the post wrong. It's 10.5 outlaw not 10.50 et's.
