I had the pleasure of hearing my '69 running today for the first time in almost 9 years:hurray:.
It sounds very healthy, and I couldn't be happier with exhaust note through the Magnaflows. You definitely know I'm there, but it's not ignorant by any means. I'll be very curious to see how it sounds when I get on it during a road trip.
No real glitches to speak of, other than the T-Stat housing ( brand new ) developed a crack and leaked like a bugger:(. I've got a junky one on there now, and have ordered a new one. The real downside was that I had this housing Jet-Hot coated to match the intake, which is coated as well. Also, my gas gauge is pegged all the way to the right, not sure what the problem is there:confused:.
Just sitting in the car with the tranny in park, the throttle feels very crisp and responsive. The Jet Hot coating on the headers survived the break-in without a hitch, still looks like new.
I had to back it out of my buddies shop to take it around 400 feet to another shop for the front end alignment. I made sure there was nothing around and gave the pedal a firm blip, broke the tires loose like it was nothing:D.
It was a good feeling, but reality also set in with all the work still to be done over the next few months before spring.
