Smittie

I hope this is ok to post in this forum. I have no paint experience beyond rattle cans so I thought I would try my hand at repainting my fiberglass truck bed lid on a Ford Ranger. This is not a camper shell but a hard lid that sits level with the bed sides. The finish is peeling like it got a bad sunburn, I'm guessing it is loosing the clear coat but I don't know. It is about 12 years old. Anyway I do have a cheap paint gun I can hook up to a compressor and a local shop that will mix the paint for me. So anyway it sounds like fun and I don't have high expectations for the end result. I am thinking about just removing the lid and placing it on saw horses in the back yard.
I could use some basic instructions for a job like this.
TIA
