: Intake Manifold Leak ?

I've chased a problem all season with wet oil on the sparkplugs which I thought was a result of HellFire rings just taking awhile to seat.Last night I pulled the carb off and with a light looked down the runners and could see oil in the intake especially where the heads meet the intake runners.Just for kicks I took a wrench and turned and intake bolt and it had about 5 lbs of torque on it.Checked all the others and they were as bad or worse.Seems to me that my engine builder probably snugged the bolts and meant to come back and torque them but forgot.I torqued them to #25 and cleaned the runners witha rag and brake clean.Hann't had a chance to get it back running yet but does this seem like the wet plug culprit ?

I think you found the culprit. Intake runner leaks will draw a significant amount of oil into the combustion chamber. Torque the bolts to spec in sequence, going through several steps, just like torquing the heads.
BTW, the Hellfire/Firepower rings shouldn't take any longer to seat than ductile/moly rings.

If oil was getting through there will just torqueing be okay,or should I remove the intake and reinstall with new gaskets ?
