My new Race Rites dont have a provison for a temperature sending unit. My builder told me to run it off my intake. I heard several stories about people saying not to place it in the intake but rather in the head. Any Ideas on this??
Thanks

chevy had it in the intake for years. right next to the stat housing which is about the hottest place and most accurate.

I have the RaceRites as well. Sending unit on the manifold by upper water neck.
No issues with it in the manifold, other than the head sender unit will probably read a tad higher, than the manifold just before therm release. You tend to get a spike before the therm opens, so I keep that in mind. You don't get to see that spike as mutch with a manifold sender unit.
I run a 2 core Becool and never gets above 180 with a 180 Therm.
I have always prefered knowing what the heads are actually running, but the manifold works for me.
