Anyone using the rear helper air springs in their 68-72 chevelle?

The air bags that go inside the coil, yes.

The air suspension system, no.

Yes the bag that goes inside the coil. How do you like it? And which one did you go with?

I'm going to semi-hickjack this thread. I actually came on here to start one very similar, so I hope you do not mind. I found a bag set that went in your coils in my Summit book last night for about 75 bucks. They claim to fit 68-72. I wanted to raise my rear bumper an inch or two. Will these do that, or just make the existing height more stiff? sorry to jack, but it seemed like a similar question.

Yea I've been looking at the Summit bags, Hotchkis bags, and firestone bags all on Summit Racing. My concern is also the stiffness the bags may cause. I had air shocks and didn't like the ride quality. Now i'm on Hotchkis springs with KYB GR2's. I want to level my ride out basically. My options are to get coilovers for the front to lower the front in relation to the rear OR just maintain the rear ride height with air bags. I know for sure the handling and ride quality will be maintained with the coilovers (if not improved quite a bit)...

I have the AirLift Drag Bags on my car. Combined with the rear sway bar the ride was very stiff but very stable. I dropped the air bags all the way down to about 7 psi to get a decent ride and I'm ok with it now.

This is about the same with me - but if you also have the Hotchkis springs, the ride will still be a bit stiffer than stock. Performance is great, though, for cornering.

Yes, they will lift one or both sides of the car. When you put them in, use a vacuum pump to pull all the air out, then squeeze them in the coils - the bags are pretty tough.

I've been using the summit bags for about 3-4 years now.

Just for the record. I got a set of "drag bags" from a fellow member on here. At 30 PSI it looks like I got 1 1/2 -2 inchs of lift in the rear. Exactly what I needed.
