Is there any machine work that need's to be done to convert a non roller engine(1975 454) to a roller? If so is this a costly procedure?
Thanks , Mitch.

Its easy to do u just got to get some retrofit hyd roller lifters or Solid Roller, i am using Federal Mogul HT-5010RCA HYD roller lifters wich are around 30 dollars a pair, And u will need longer push rods wich speed pro has some 3/8 retrofit ones for a good deal and if u do have the machined area behind the cam sprocket that has 2 holes there tapped u can use the cam retaining plate from a gen V-VI roller blocks and use a step nose type cam or u can use a cam thrust button to keep the cam from moving forward. there is no other machining u have to do unless the recomended valve springs need the head seats machined.

Sugarwolf,
I tried to send you an email, but it bounced back.
I have a few questions, so please email me at virgilroberts@hotmail.com

No machine work whatsoever required. You need link-bar roller lifters (commonly referred to as "retrofit"), a cam button to retain the cam to the rear in the block, and SHORTER push rods than a flat tappet cam uses. Usually about .400" shorter but it varies from one lifter to another. You run the "retrofit" style cam, not the "step nose" type, and a regular early-model timing set (roller preferred of course).
