The check ball in the secondary diaphram- should it be snug in the carb body or should it fall out when you remove the secondary diaphram assembly?

Also, the carb is jetted correctly and the power valve is the correct one for this engines vaccuum reading, but when you get on the brakes hard and come to a stop, the engine wants to die.
I think the secondary float is too high and fuel may be rushing back into the front bowl....Does that sound right??? carb is a 600cfm 4160 w/vaccuum secondaries...

Is your front float level right? It might be low. Think braking- car is pitching forward and pushing fuel AWAY from the jets in front.

Sometimes a trick is to set the rear 1/8 or so low. It doesnt hurt, really. Holleys hold a LOT of gas compared to the rest! Id look at the fron level first, though. It should JUST TRICKLE out of the sight hole with the engine running.

If the check ball isn't loose there's a good chance the sec's are not opening. Also a good chance it's the wrong size. Don't run without it as it's a safety device that makes sure the sec's close when you take your foot out of it.

Float adjustment is most likely your problem. It will be the front bowl that is causing the problem not the rear though, it feeds the idle circuit.

Thanx guys, I guess that makes sense on the front bowl being the culpret since we went from 62.2 mains to 70's.But the check ball seems stuck in the carb body and I was thinking it should fall out when the diaphram is removed..
