I have a 350, which according to the casting number, is a '87 - '95 one piece seal block. It currently has a stock, flat tappet hydraulic cam. Can a ZZ4 roller cam or LT4 Hot Cam be used in this block with OE SB roller lifters? If so, is a special timing chain or retainer needed? I'm considering bolting on a set of vortec heads (with necessary mods) and running either of the mentioned cams if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to add that the engine has bolt bosses inside the lifter valley, posssibly for roller lifter retainers. Wes

As long as the bosses for the cam retainer plate are there, then yes. You can buy a kit with the lifers, retainers and spider from ScrogginDickey. You can check ebay too. The cam shows up sometimes as well as the rest of the valve train parts.

Thanks Scott. That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm going to check-out what Scoggin-Dickey has to offer. Tomorrow, I'll be going to the Long Beach Hi Perf swap meet. Hopefully I'll be able to score some decent heads, then I'll look for a cam.
