why are ratchet shifters not recommended fr street use? can some explain why gate is better for the street?

I have a B&M pro ratchet shifter on my car and i love it! I can't see any reason why it would not be not recommended for street use.

p.s. i've had mine in for 3 years and no problems.

i ran a ratchet back in the day with no problems as well. its kind of makes the auto a clutchless manual. way cool in my opinion.

There are many variations of ratchet shifts. Some better than others. Is there a particular shifter you are referring to?
