: Bought my first Chevelle...

Well, a week ago I decided to bite the bullet and join Team Chevelle, then yesterday I finally bought my first Chevelle, a '67 drag car (roller). I've got a built up 454 (very similar to the solid cam BSE combo) /TH350 combo waiting to drop into it, built for my Camaro project but that car needs a LOT of tlc before it'll be ready for the road.

The question I've got is about how much would a car like this weigh? It's got a glass hood, otherwise steel body, just about everything stripped that isn't needed (interior, underhood, etc), not tubbed, 12-bolt rear with ladder bars. The guy I bought it from hasn't ever weighed it but said 31-3200 with a small block. That almost sounded a little on the light side, but I figure there's got to be somebody here with a similar car that might know what it weighs. Thanks!

Oh, and also (almost forgot to add), does anybody have a picture they can link or post of what the frame side motor mounts should look like on this car? They look a little different than I'm used to seeing, but I might just be used to what the ones on my Camaro look like.

Congratulations!! I have a 66 Malibu with full interior, sbc 355 with aluminum heads, intake and radiator, electric fuel pump and fan, glass cowl induction hood and fenders, with the spare and jack in the trunk. My car weighs 3150lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas. Hope this helps.

Just go to a big truck stop, they should have some CAT scales for like $7

My 67 El Camino bracket car weighs between 3396 and 3404 depending on scale. It is all metal, has a roll bar and is pretty much down to the essentials. This is race weight with me and 20 gallions of fuel. So about 3080 empty and dry. Elky's have a heavier frame than a coupe since it is factory boxed. It's a SBC.

Thanks for the weights guys, sounds like 3100-3200 with a SBC would be pretty close, maybe 33-3400 with the iron headed, alum intake BB. Thunderstruck, that's a good idea, I've got to get a trailer, but the first time I head out to the track I might stop off at a truck stop and get her weighed.
