: Replacing clock with a tach
Kelly Burns Oct 29th, 08, 7:29 PM Is there a tach that I can replace my clock with, in the console of my 67, without having to alter the console at all. If I gotta hurt my console, its not worth doing to me, I may want to have the clock again someday.
Finally Oct 29th, 08, 11:01 PM I've seen them on ebay for a '70. Don't know if they make them for a '67 but it's worth a search.
hpsherlin Oct 30th, 08, 9:44 AM Why not leave the clock and put a blinker tach in? I like mine and it reads great.
Just an idea for you to ponder.
Kelly Burns Oct 30th, 08, 9:53 PM You know I have one in my car that needs to be hooked up. I'm not sure I like the thing, it doesn't seem to "fit" the style of the interior well to me. The guy I got the car from said was a rare piece.
hpsherlin Oct 31st, 08, 9:35 AM 67 was the only year for the blinker tach. If you have an original one, it is probably worth something. Check out ebay and see what they are going for.
The blinker tach was an option in 67 only.

1969 El Camino Dan Nov 11th, 08, 8:02 AM I took a tach apart and installed it in my console's clock location.
The console is from a 1965 Impala SS model.
Took a bit of creativity, but it worked out quite nicely.
Don't remember the brand name, though.
I'll see if I can find it.

I'll take one this weekend, and post it.
RT468 Dec 19th, 08, 5:52 PM Had one that someone cut the chrome ring off flush with the pebbled finish of the pot metal top and installed a SUN cup type tach.If I had to duplicate this for some reason I would probably buy a plastic repro and keep the metal top intact.Didn't hook up the tach, hole was tight enough to be an interference fit,hid an ignition kill switch underneath it.The tach looked factory and most people assumed it was an option for the time.

Kelly Burns Dec 31st, 08, 9:18 PM I got a SoCal Speed Shop 3-3/8" tach for Christmas,:hurray: I think it will look better than that one.
floyd66 Jan 4th, 09, 12:51 AM The console is a lousy location for a tach, if you are actually going to look at it.
