I would like to know where the original switch is mounted on the dash? Can you make the defogger blow hot air??
Thank You

Click on attachment for larger image, source '69 AIM. I purchased my harness, switch, motor and grille/diffuser off of eBay.

The switch mounts above the cig lighter. I bought my motor, duct, grille off ebay also. just waiting for a switch and harness. Does your rear defroster blow hot air?

Does your rear defroster blow hot air?
It relies solely on ambient temperature, cabin temperature.

Does anyone know which fuse or wire to splice into for power?

A template came with mine but I don't think I have it anymore. I could take some pics or measurements if that would help you.

I sure hope it blows hot/warm air?! It's mounted in the trunk so there's no warm ambient air there.

I suppose drawing air out of the trunk would still be quite a bit warmer than the cold glass.

True. I guess it is a defogger, not a deicer.

hey thanks for that diagram. i seen a wagon power window switch that looks very similiar to the defogger switch. Is that the same switch just a different bezel?

Good reporting John,

Make sure you mount the switch in the upper position. The diagram showing two switches refers to a power convertible top switch and rear defogger combo.

I have this option factory installed on my car, but it is in storage now and I can't get you a photo.

Woj.

Thanks Phil, just trying to help out.:)

Not sure about the switches being one in the same, I can check that out Monday.

I did find a vendor on line that may have a rear window defog switch part #3959229. Home_Page (http://www.jrschevyparts.com/) or go directly to parts page "Group_9.000 (http://www.jrschevyparts.com/1969_parts.htm)".

Wagon power window switch #4432790, would not be the same as the defog switch #3959229.

I will keep my eye open for a defog switch for you.
