View Full Version : Aluminum tubs? R66SS427 Oct 29th, 08, 4:15 AM OK, a dumb question. His reason is that if the frame and the tubs flex, then they (the tubs) can pull on your sheetmetal and potentially make a mess of things. He simply uses a type of weather stripping that has an edge that "clips" over the edge of the tub, and then butts that up to the inner quarter panel. I can get in touch with him and find out a part # and where to get it if you would like. I was hoping they didn't need to be hooked to the quarters.I'm trying to get these in without ruining the paint if possible. Thanks. Jblack Oct 30th, 08, 8:40 AM do not attach them! Leave yourself a approx 1/4" to 3/8" gap when you trim your cardboard template. Then when they are installed use seam sealer /weather strip to fill the void. This keeps the grime, water, tire smoke out of the passenger compartment. R66SS427 Oct 30th, 08, 12:21 PM do not attach them! This might not be such a pain as I was thinking!! prostreet69 Oct 31st, 08, 10:55 PM If you go to www.cachassisworks.com (http://www.cachassisworks.com), and click on the "How-to" link, there is a very good article on how to install wheel tubs. If you use the homemade tool they describe, they will fit well enough to run a small bead of sealer along the inside of tub to inside of quarter. Works out very slick. I love this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ground zero Nov 11th, 08, 9:08 PM Use silicone. As long as the tub is snug against the fender silicone it on both edges. It will never come apart ground zero Nov 11th, 08, 9:12 PM I've built pro cars making over 1000 hp and have had no trouble damaging sheetmetal.Just my thought |
