Anyone out there with plans, or sosurces (companies) for plans/ideas for beefing up and modifying stock A-body frame for my restored '69, or new '68 Chevelle project, so as to improve handling? ????? make it corner like a Z06 would be nice ...

Sure I know I can get after market tubular A- arms, beefier sway bars, control arms, 4- wheel disks, air bag suspension, etc etc. ... but wonder if I can't get close to after market complete frame by welsing some stuff across here and there ... - I'd love to get new Schwartz frame, or something like their's but I don;t think I have quite enough money.

I wonder if I can't box in the side rails, weld cross members here and there, drill afew holes here and there to lighten the beast ... seems like there should be some "plans" out there somewhere" .for what I'm talking about ... I mean there are plans for welding up a nice rotisserie ($7.95)... and that thing looks close to an A-body frame to me !!

Thanks folks-

If you run a search on frame boxing, frame modification, etc you will get a ton of hits.

This is just a few of them.

In short the answer is yes and could be argued that you will be in just as good of shape, performance wise, for FAARRRR less money.

Those aftermarket frames are sweet but, in my tiny little mind, dont seem necessary at all unless your planning on a super high dollar, extreme friggin super car type build and even then I think its arguable as to necessity or if they offer that much of an improvement over a well modified stock frame.

But im cheap. Guess if I had the coin I would just toss it at one of those frames and forget about it.

*runs and hides from the engineer types that might go nuts on me about those statements* :D

Good luck!!!
