Hi. Question is for a 1965. How do I get it to work in all posistions?

Replaced a 2 speed powerglide with a 3 speed. Shifter is on the column. I assume it will work but I will be missing a gear on the shifter, be it park or low I have not decided. Will a new column be required for full use?

Tranny + motor came from a royal knight el camino, had a mid 60's base model vette motor, tranny could be from either I guess??

Any advice, links etc will be helpful. Thx!

i had same situation in a 71 Nova. Park and Low won't be affected. Just shift by feel not by the dash indicator. You may not be able to shift manually thru all three gears individually.

Cool. Thx for the reply.
So I may get lucky and get them all,
but chances are I will not directly get low gear.

That will get me driving at least!

I think what he's saying is all the gears in the new 3 speed tranny will work with the shift lever but the indicator won't show them. Example: low will have no indication but will work, 2nd will show up as L on the indicator and 3rd (high) will be D on the indicatior......savvy

You can make some adjustment to the linkage!

The detent, (click) between gears felt in the column shift is from the transmission. The clicking is not from the column shift. So all the gears and park will work. jim
