what are the power limitations of a pump gas 18 degree 434" sbc????

the cam will have to be a "street roller" and peak power to be below or just at 7000.

erickrickster,

Depending on the build, 650-675 HP should be obtainable. If you hit the nail on the head with the combo a little more should be possible.

Adding some compression that power figure will jump about 100 HP.

To pull that off though, you are basically going to have to build an all out 18 deg. engine with big solid roller and the associated valvetrain, etc. You will basically being throwing 100 HP out the window just for the sake of running pump gas. In my mind, that is not a very good trade off for a car that is just used to cruise to a local show on weekends and raced at the dragstrip primarily.

With a small street roller power output is going to take a hit. Probably to the tune of 600 HP or so. Peak power with a milder cam will be in the 6000-6500 RPM range.

The real question is what are your goals and intended usage?

Scoggindickey had a 434 7 years ago they called the rocket launcher that made 672hp at 7000 and 595 ft. lbs. at 5200 with 11.2 comp. ratio and 285cc ported 18degree heads. 190 iron bowtie head made 560 hp at 5500 but power dipped after that. 850 carb. and not sure if they ran pump gas.Roller was .620 252/258 110 lsa solid.

the goal would be solid 10's in a 3600# car.

it would be nice to save weight off the nose of the car,and may be a better choice when using a 4 speed, as opposed to running the 555 bbc pump gas motor i'm about to build.

almost 200# off the nose is tempting.better wheelies!!!!!

what would a 93 octane 434" 18 degree motor cost using USA forgings??

what rpm's are needed ????? thanx
