My 98 Monte Z34 (3.8L) will not start. I have a good battery (voltage wise), power is ok throughout the vehicle, etc. I hear a click under the hood when the key is turned but the starter does not turn. I've not been able to crawl under yet but am guessing I have a bad starter at this point. If I do, is it difficult to access and replace? I plan to test power at the solenoid and go from there but my grandfather passed away Sat morning so my time is limited. Any insight as to what I am up against would be appreciated. TIA.

typically if you hear it clicking then the starter gear is engaging the flywheel but doesn't have enough power to turn the motor over. Usually a weak battery, if not then maybe try tapping the starter lightly with a hammer, see if that loosens it up, after that i would try testing/replacing the solenoid. just my .02

Not sure about 98 Montes but some cars have two positive battery cables, one stacked on top of the other with a spacer in between.
I've had to replace the bolt and spacer before.
Might be worth checking.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get under her today. No problem. Starter was fairly easy to get to. She's good.
