the first time i tried to show off in front my my friends when i bought my 69 camino, she started hopping really bad. i was told adding a pair of edelbrock anti-hop bars would fix the problem but i was wondering since my car has air shocks in the back would the anti-hop bars work or is there something else i should do. im just learing, any and all help would be perfect.

There's some mixed thoughts on this, but here's mine:
First, the higher the rear, the more prone it will be to hop. Take off the air shocks, put on a normal set of good quality shocks.
Then, replace the rear bushings all around - I won't go into the poly vs rubber argument, but the consensus is to at least have rubber in the upper ears of the rear axle housing if you decide on poly.
Good springs, maybe even lowering springs all around.
Once you do this, the chance of hopping will go down tremendously - if it still hops, THEN look at add-ons like no-hop bars.

Wish they'd bring back car hops. I think I was 5 when I 1st fell in love watching little blondie saunter off on skates.

Oh, , you mean weel hop....never mind. :o
Vance ,
mark has some great suggestions. Also, I think if you look a little deeper into the forums here you may find the anti-hop bars do not fit very well on El Caminos.

No Hop bars do work. Also aftermarket upper and lower controls arms help keep the axle in position. One of the biggest contributors to axle hop is lower control arm angle. Try to get the angle as close to paralell to the frame as possible. You can do this by cutting your springs or installing shorter springs. No Hops can be a pain in the a$% to install and cutting springs is fairly easy. It wall aslo stiffen the springs somewhat. I wound up installing the no hops, tublar upper and boxed lowers, cut the springs and have no axle hop. I did the no hops last and they ultimately got rid of the axle hop.
