I think so, mostly I think it needs to be tubbed and caged.

It's a car that copies the look of a Pro Stock car. Huge tires in the back (narrowed rear and tubs), and usually a roll cage. It has to have the right attitude.

Started as a 80's phenomina. Where Pro Stock style cars were built for the street. Though a lot were trailer queens. Like stated above it usually means a back halved car with narrowed rear and large tires, roll cage, blowers, lots of gauges, and chrome. Today really the only thing that holds true is the back half and big tires really.

is it legal to drive on the street with wide slicks like that? Is the term pro street given to a car that is actually driven on the street?

It's legal as long as you run DOT approved tires (not slicks) and the tires are under the car and not sticking out the sides. The pro-street name actually refers to a tubbed-out race car that has been built to legally drive on the street.

Well, I'd disagree... Not necessarily a 'race car' thats street legal... typically a street car (through and through) thats "built" to LOOK like a racecar...

Most Pro-Streeters seemed to be purpose built for the street, without much regard to actually being raced or being NHRA (etc) legal certified for racing at the ETs people would (or would have) expect them to run...

Back in the day when these first became popular, most of them were not very fast (decent, but definitely not the fastest cars in town), and most were show queens...

I have seen a few racecars converted to Pro-Street, but doesn't seem anywhere near as common as the ones purpose-built for the street...

We also called a lot of them "Pro Fairground" cars.

Good point. I was thinking of some of the folks I know whose pro-street cars are dual-duty. I guess across the board these cars aren't race cars.

"Your Kidding me right"?

Basically no. These cars can go either way. You may run across a 14 second pro-streeter and then a 9 second machine. Both are street legal as long as they run DOT's, have the tires tucked, and aren't too loud.

I seem to forget at times that some people are not famaliar with pro streeting being it has been around for awhile but yes being a show queen or a street car thats run at the track! both pro street really comes down to being a backhalfed car or tube chassis with big tires. alot of attitude long live pro street cars.
I ve always loved the pro stock cars and the awesome look they have too them.
