At a local swap meet this morning and wasnt quite awake I guess. A guy had a pair of 781 heads sitting on the table - I asked him if they had any cracks and how much he needed for them. He said they didnt have any cracks and $75. So i bartered him down ten bucks and loaded them up in the car. Turns out one is from 74 and the other one is a 78. Thought ahhh not to big of a deal - then i took a closer look. There the same side head! Dangit

BB chevy heads are not side dependant. just be sure the accessory holes are in the ends of each side and not plugged up or messed up.

it threw me for a loop when I saw "PASS" stamped inside of one head. I thought, 'passenger' for passanger side. -wrong- redface.gif

maybe its just the plugs that are throwing me off. I've never gotten to play with any big block parts - and the plugs looked angled on these - maybe thats just the way there supposed to be( keep in mind - small block/straight angled heads only thing i've tinkered with). So looking at these heads in the back seat of my camaro - it looks like the if i were to put the heads on a motor, one side would be angled to the front and the other side to the rear. Is that the way it supposed to be?

I've got a pair of the same side head, 781's as well. Maybe we could swap. While you're at it, I have a whole box of nails with the heads on the wrong end. Anybody on this forum from south of the equator? I'd make you a great deal on some nails that would work fine for you and are of no use to me. I have a dog that I think his head and butt are swapped 'cause he's always going the wrong way, but I haven't had a vet check him to verify it.

sorry- things must have just looked askewed - but between that, and the fact that for some reason I thought they were side dependant, and the terrible hangover I still have. Something seemed to good to be true. I mean a pair of 781's for $65.....

No, No!! Those nails are for the wall on the other side of the room!!!

And my Buddy and I are still waiting for that young, new guy to get back with the Bosses new "Board-Stretcher", b/c a couple of the boards have been cut off twice AND they are still too short!!!

You got a good deal, now go drop'em off to the machine shop and get them cleaned up. ;) BTW: What are you building?

I gave like $75 for the pair of old swap meet -206's I have..

The big guy even threw them over a 7 foot fence into the grass for me so I didn't have to pack them all that far..
