: 70 option prices
wannarun70 Oct 22nd, 08, 9:39 PM can't seem to find cost of option B96 - R WHL OPG MLD(does not show as standard).
and
GW8 - 410 RATIO AXLE
I have the GW8 listed above G80(positraction). Would the price of the GW8 be included in the G80
thanks Mark
Dave Birdwell Oct 22nd, 08, 10:20 PM The B96 W/H moldings were part of the SS package. I've seen various prices for the optional gear ratio, some list it as the same price as the G80 Positraction, $42.15
The optional gear is not included with the posi.

Agree with Dave, B96 is part of both the SS options and not a separate item just like the B22 SS door emblems or even the L34 and LS5 engines.
GW8 is sort of the same thing. Axle RPO codes were always listed even when equipped with the 3.31 G94 rear gear or other ratios. Option ZQ9, Rear Axle - Performance Ratio was the option paid for and GW8 4.10 is what you got. I can't attest to the validity of the price in 1970, but one source listed the ZQ9 at $10.15; in 71 and 72 it's listed at $12.65 - but the ZQ9 did require G80 Positraction. In any case, the ZQ9 was a relatively low cost option for the gear but required the $42.15 Positraction to go along with it.

Hey Dale, I was checking out the sheets on Chevellestuff(which is a great sight and loaded with lots of great info. thanks)and none of them had it listed as the ZQ9 option. Would it ever show up on the build sheet as a ZQ9(or am I not understanding something)And how would that show up on sticker price.
Thanks Mark
DaleM Oct 24th, 08, 1:24 AM Thanks, Mark for the kind remarks. The second KC 454 sheet (http://www.chevellestuff.com/1970/chevelle/bs/kan/kan_454.htm) has the ZQ9 option listed as well as the GW8 4.10 axle gear and I have several others from KC with both listed. Atlanta & Baltimore sheets I have show the GW8 4.10 axle gear but not the ZQ9 PERF AXLE option. I don't have valid sheets from Arlington, Flint, or Van Nuys with the GW8 and/or ZQ9 option so I can't attest to them. Maybe others with sheets for those plants can chime in.
As with so many other differences in plant's sheets and this is one of those differences - example, KC is the only plant that I've found that lists the Z25 SS 396 PKG code. KC also lists the ZL3 SS396 CONV code; other plants list the ZL3 code but with slightly different verbiage...
Atlanta & Van Nuys shows ZL3 SS 396 CONVERSN, Baltimore lists it as ZL3 SS396 CONVERS, and Arlington lists ZL3 SS 396 CONV. Note subtle differences between 'SS396' and 'SS 396' as well as the abbreviation of 'CONVERSION'.
How it might show up on a window sticker, GW8 vs. ZQ9, I can't say with any certainty as I only have a few originals (none with the 4.10 option) and only one 'reproduction' with the ZQ9 option listed; the plants may differ on that as well. I know the ZQ9 option is reported by Chevrolet and not GW8.

Thanks Dale. Sorry I missed the ZQ9 on the KC sheets.I guess once I saw the GW8 and the G80 I went no further. I assumed(and we all know what that means)that the ZQ9 was not there. And I guess maybe the 396 conv differences could also be just the way different people entered it to go on the sheet, where ever that was.
Thanks for the info.
