: Tower clamps...

Are there different qualities of tower clamps? I recently bought the kit from Ground Up and am not too happy with them. During installation, a couple of them twisted to the point of not being able to use them. Maybe I cranked too much, but I don't think so. Looking for a supplier of some heavier duty ones, any suggestions? Thanks...Jon

I got mine from pacecarjeff no problems installing them either. CLICK HERE (http://broachbuster.com/id45.htm)

Most of the time the problem is with the poor quality bolts supplied with the clamps. Remove the bolt in the clamp and replace it with a good 1/4" x 20 bolt and it won't twist off. Lube the clamp strap with a drop of oil and tighten it down. If you strip the nut, you probably tightened it more than necessary.

Jon, try using an adjustable wrench to brace the tower portion of the clamp, this should keep it square while tightening the clamp.

I didn't have much luck with the ones that I bought either. I checked out the pacecarjeff website that 1badss396 suggested. At the bottom is a disclaimer that reads...

IMPORTANT
Although these clamps look exactly like the originals, they are not as strong.
When installing please use a pliers to grip the tower, and insure the screw stays on a straight course while tightening.

You might be OK for a first install, but I know from experience that you can throw them away and get new ones if you have to pull a hose for some reason.
