hey ya'll! graemlins/waving.gif i may need to replace my turbo 350 tranny within the next few months and since it is the original one and i've had it rebuilt once before, i'd prefer to invest in something new. actually, i never felt it was quite enough for my setup. i think i'm losing alot of power at the flywheel. i'm looking for input on what i should get to match what i have. here's a rundown of what i've got......350 sm bored 30 over, 350 crank, 280 comp cam, 67cc dart heads, flat top forged trw pistons, roller tip rocker arms, between 10:1 and 10.5:1 compression, edelbrock rpm performer, 750 vac sec holley carb w/K&N Filter, msd box, mallory hei ignition, headers, 8.5 msd wires, richmond 355 limited slip gear 10 bolt rearend, 15 inch wheels w/50 series tires on rear, oh and the torque conv i'm currently using is a 2500 stall, may be a bit excessive (long story). i mostly do street driving, love bottom end power, don't do much racing, she's a show toy with some balls. all suggestions welcome. smile.gif and by the way, "chvyrose" does mean i'm a girl, for those of you who do not know me yet. ;)

The TH350 is more than enough for you car, they will live behind a 500hp big block. Get a good converter and a good shift kit and you're good to go.

Muncie M21, or better yet Richmond / Doug Nash 5 speed ;)

Tremec TKO600, from what I've been hearin it's the best thing for a dual purpose car.

A cam change would be more educational...
A solid would give your more low end and keep the top.
The regular tremec 5 spd would be more than enough for a street sbc.

You may want to consider a 2004R tranny. The 4 speed automatic if properly built can handle up to 800 HP and lock up for great mileage. Take a look at the links in my signature lines. I use a 2004R and 4:11 gears and the car runs in the 11's until they kick me off the track... graemlins/waving.gif

I have a reman Th350 from checker with a combo slightly milder than yours and I've been liking it. My best time is 14.7 @ 96 but I'm sure there is more in the tuning b/c I've only run it 4 times with this motor. BTW "young gun '71" does mean I'm young. tongue.gif

A near stock 350 is good through the 11's and into the 10's. It will hold up just fine for your combo. The 200-4R is an excellent recommendation. Figure about a $1000+ more than a 350 for a stock rebuild with some durablity upgrades. About a year ago I replace the 350 in my driver with one and gas mileage increased by about 50%. The engine just loafs along at 70 mph.

A well prepped 200 or 700R4 would be the ticket. Deep 1st gear to show off her balls, and OD in 4th for easy cruising.
