: How to make a Chevelle Hook....Part 4
70_chevelle Oct 18th, 04, 12:41 PM Go to a different track!
We went to the Boise Halloween Classic this weekend and had a ball. The car ran great, I was able to get the roll bar in and certified just days before leaving. It was a new experience not letting up at the 1000' mark.
The car hooked well with 60's in the 1.58 range. The best time was 11.10 at 122.54MPH. The DA this year wasn't very good and was about 4800 feet on that run.
Here's a few pictures...

I have to tell you, I've been to 4 tracks and by far the funnest track hands down is your Firebirds Raceway, I'm jealous...

Here is a few shot of my wifes car, of course she's faster and has a far better launch then me, she also wins more races!

Looks like you are both hooking hard,
as a corrected 10.83 roughly, thats impressive!!!
As a traction challenged ride, I have followed your posts, congrats, both car's are moving, esp at that elevation!!!! graemlins/beers.gif

DragRacer Oct 19th, 04, 12:32 AM Lee,
Congratulations on getting the car to hook. It's been a long battle, but it looks like you are coming out on the winning end.

SS_Dave Oct 19th, 04, 12:07 PM impressive!
What rpm are you leaving at?
kjett Oct 19th, 04, 1:53 PM Glad to see you're getting the car to hook better. Congrats on your new times! You might try running a little more air pressure in the rear tires. Looks like they are wadding up a little, IMHO.
70_chevelle Oct 19th, 04, 2:43 PM Thanks everyone for the encouragements!

... What rpm are you leaving at? I bring the RPM up to about 1200, if I go any more then that 2 things happen: 1) The front end starts to lift, 2) I red light!

I run 12 pounds at our track and I base that on the wear indicators and 60' times. I guess with our track temps so much higher then at boise I should of added more air pressure. I never thought to change that especially since I was so happy I was even hooking! We only got 1 test run per day so I didnt change a thing once I got there.

Harold Sutton Oct 24th, 04, 7:10 PM Hi 70_Chevelle, Yes the skinnies will help. Both your cars are running very good times, by the way, at those altitudes. My sons Chevelle just went to biting big time as we changed the rear wheels and tires.
