: Chassis dyno monday

If all goes well and I think the car is ok for it, I have a chassis dyno scheduled for monday, even though there is a slight chance of rain (yuck), but the dyno place is full saturday and monday is the only day I can do it.
This is with the loaner so tight it seems like its gonna break the driveline converter, so we will see how it goes.
I am driving it there since its only a 30 min ride on the highway, but if something explodes on the dyno I am gonna be in a bad situation because anyone would could get my truck and trailer ready would be at work..

Looking forward to it.
I also picked up the correct speedo gear from the local chevy dealership and a special trans governor from the local GMC dealership (big holes in the weights.. I hope I don't have to figure out a way to *add* weight to the darn thing!)
I'll keep you posted-- good results, bad results, explosion.. whatever.

There is New England Dyno Tuning in worcester, there is another chassis dyno in fall river, and there is one in allston (I think) that caters to the BMW crowd, and there is one in hanover (ACS racing).
I am using new england dyno tuning because its close to me, but I would only use them for dynoing because from what he I hear the owner and people associated with him deal only with newer cars-- ie EFI, nitrous, and blowers, and aren't all that slick with carb'd cars. Not knocking them, but different shops do different things better.
The price was cheaper than it was last year when I called them (i didn't do it because of the price last year), $75 for 2-3 (no changes between pulls, except like taking off the air filter or whatever..) pulls with a/f meter in your exhaust.
A couple other places I called wanted 120 for the same service, ACS racing does 2 pulls w/o air fuel on saturdays for $50 I think, but hanover is a pretty far drive for me, and $75 isn't too bad. I know someone who got charged $140 for 3 pulls (no changes between pulls) with air/fuel at a shop (I forget which one), and that to me just isn't worth it.

are all these places chassis dynos. i would like to be able to run my engine on an engine dyno out of the car and be able to tune it my self or have some one tune it. this may be a problem though seen as the motor Im buliding will be running a modified corvette fuel injection the mechanical 60's kind and a magneto ignition. where exactly are you loacted I live near the nh border and and there are a few dyno shops in nh that are close to me.

yeah all the places that I listed are chassis dyno's, although I think ACS racing has an engine dyno too.
Engine dyno's are used more (IMHO) by engine builders themselves.
Grab a copy of the new england dragway newsletter, and start calling around.

yeah i think i wanna get some time on an engine dyno because my car is far from driveable, but if I can get my engine together and dyno it itll give me lots of insentive to finish my car knowing that i have a 500 hp engine sittin in my cellar just itching for a car to go into.
