tomzombie Oct 21st, 08, 8:46 PM I have a 67 chevelle and i am looking at buying a set of bucket seats i found for $300.00.What years and GM cars had the same bucket seats?I looked at my parts catolog and 66 thru 72 chevelle look the same.I want to recover them with 67 chevelle covers and want to make sure they fit.the seats look right but im not sure what they came out of.Thanks Tom.
1bad67 Oct 21st, 08, 10:00 PM 67 chevelle, buick, gto. 66-67 frames were the same. However 67 had the fold down latching mechanism.
Chris R Oct 23rd, 08, 3:36 AM 66 had no latch at all and the back and side panels were metal. 67 and 68 both had the latch on the sides, 67 backs and sides were also metal, 68 back and sides were plastic. 69-72 had latches directly on the back of the seat.
FlameOut Oct 23rd, 08, 4:11 PM I used 67 GTO seats in mine, and recovered with the 67 Chevelle Legendary covers
tomzombie Oct 24th, 08, 8:33 PM Well they must be 66 because thier is no latch. So some of the seats in 66 are wider than others? Thanks Tom.
tomzombie Oct 24th, 08, 8:38 PM What about oldsmobile?
1969 El Camino Dan Oct 24th, 08, 8:53 PM Yep, Oldsmobiles used 'em too.
GM Strato Bucket seats were their name.
All were the same size and were also used in full size cars as well during those years.
tomzombie Oct 24th, 08, 9:41 PM Well i think i found out what they are.I seen the same seats in a 66 nova on ebay.So would they be the same as a 66/67 chevelle? Thanks Tom
1969 El Camino Dan Oct 25th, 08, 12:38 AM Yes, Novas did have Strato bucket seats in 1966
tomzombie Oct 25th, 08, 5:32 PM thanks alot for the info this web site kicks ass.Tom.
tomzombie Oct 26th, 08, 10:47 AM Oh i forgot to ask is the 66 nova back seat the same as 66/67 chevelle and will the seat covers interchange? Thanks Tom.
Herb Oct 30th, 08, 1:47 PM They will fit but won't have the latching mechanism that 67's had. Don't know where to buy the mechanism. Would like to know. Another optin is to use 66 seats, cover them as 67's and just put the release button in the side of the seat when they recover them. Looks identical to 67 seats but the latch button is non-functional.
Chris R Nov 1st, 08, 2:52 AM I could have sworn Novas had a smaller seat similiar to the corvair.

65 and earlier did had the big short fat one that you see in those years of impala as well
66 was the year of the so called strato bucket minus latch
The only year like that to without a latch 67-68 had the button in the side that locks and the later ones thru 72 were in the ctr of back
