: 69 RS/SS Camaro Frame off 396 Clone
69396ss Oct 20th, 08, 5:36 PM Ive given a lot of thought recently on the value and desirability of thouroughbred numbers cars and high caliber clones.
My beliefs are holding true (for myself anyway) that I won't be happy with a documented numbers car with marginal cosmetics. Or a numbered car with cosmetics that costs the same as a condominium that I'm afraid to drive.
As I searched i stumbled on this. I saw this car over the week end and can't get it out of my head.
it's a 69 RS/SS camaro, 396 4 speed.
Frame off, all new sheet metal, floors, quarters, etc. Stripped to bare metal. The Chassis is superb and powder coated.
The pictures don't do it justice.
Thoughts on value?
1badss396 Oct 20th, 08, 5:40 PM Sure does look pretty. How much for it?
So does this mean you are going over to the camaro board, LOL:D

Asking price is $38K.
Seems like a lot, but hard to find a desirable car, whether camaro, Chevelle or Corvette, with a rotiseree restoration for $38K.
Needs a bit of correct detailing, but I'm thinking it may be reasonable.
704EVER Oct 20th, 08, 6:14 PM Nice looking car for sure John, you know you can't build it for that, if it's a really good frame off. Just go easy on the little detailing stuff, we all know how the last one worked out!!!!!
jr2226nhra Oct 20th, 08, 6:15 PM john those 69 rs camaros are hot. looks really nice in pics and i am sure in person who cares if its a clone as long as its done nice and you like it :beers:
69396ss Oct 20th, 08, 6:49 PM A couple more shots.
-Gorgeous car
-He's asking 38K and will obviously take 35K, take 34K in with you and make sure his wife sees it.:D
-Last but not least, you are a well informed dude, I am sure you will not let your emotions get the better of you, It's a buyer's market.
Dave Birdwell Oct 20th, 08, 7:20 PM What does the cowl tag say?
Just remember, the F bodies DO NOT drive or ride NEAR as nice as an A-body. If it were me, I'd be looking for something like what Wax-Um was looking to buy, the GTO Judge that his wife was going to divorce him over. Pontiacs run good, and a real GTO will hold it's value.
1badss396 Oct 20th, 08, 7:36 PM It sure does look sweet:yes:
Is the emergency brake cable supposed to be under the exhaust pipes on a camaro?

Hey Dave, John just wants another car he can do a LITTLE 50K detailing to. You know how that goes with him, he just needs to see if he can fit in the front seat.l:)l:) Nice looking car though!!
1badss396 Oct 20th, 08, 7:51 PM Thats very true with John he wont be able to stop:noway:
John post up a vid of the car running so we can hear it:yes:
How about a burn out.......:D

Uh, no I don't think so....
If he wants something to detail, he can drag his butt up next weekend, I got plenty for him to do....

They all ride like Lumber Trucks with the Bias Ply Tires bolted on.
I'll avoid the $50K resto on this one.
Some Lumber truck tires, correct center caps and rings, cowl induction air cleaner assembly, some exhaust manifolds and chamberred exhaust, center console, some stickers, labels, grease marks and paint dabs and I'm done. :D

Not true, my friend, not true. I'll gladly drive a Chevelle 500 miles before I go 100 in a Camaro. Had them both, and that is MHO. :D
If you buy, and are going to get tires, let me know, maybe Coker will cut a deal on 8, I need a set for the 72.

No sense trying to fool us John...:noway:
69396ss Oct 20th, 08, 9:47 PM I think it's because the cooler it get's the rougher it rides.
You have the Luxury Sport, like the Chevelle, then you have the Camaro, which is more of a Rugged Man's Sports/Pony car, and then if you really want to be cool, you have the Corvette which is Pure sports car, and the roughest ride of them all.

Only the corvette and the camaro has been labeled as the one who drive them small penis syndrome:D

69396ss Oct 20th, 08, 10:07 PM I'll never win this on a Chevelle Forum, I concede :D

Greg Oct 21st, 08, 12:19 AM Ive given a lot of thought recently on the value and desirability of thoroughbred numbers cars and high caliber clones.
John, I had a '69 Camaro RS with a 350 back in 1977. It looked brand new and was really nice.
That '69 Camaro you posted pictures of is sweet too...but I'd have taken your numbers matching '69 Chevelle SS any day of the week over this Camaro.
