Geez, back when I was in HS like '61/'62 or so, my soon to be big-headed B-i-L caught a 9.5 pound large mouth bass at the Macon, MO's city lake.

He ate it!

Mine was a Mid May fish caught @ 2:00 AM off a rock jetty here in a small marina area in Branford, Ct.
We had been out since sunset and were getting no hits at all.... about 12:00AM i get a small tap ...then another and all of a sudden the reel starts spinnin:yes:, I was using a Shimano 6500 bait runner on a 9' uglystik and 16lb test and when I say spinnin I mean spinnin.
I then hit the switch to lock the spool and set the hook.... and lost it,:( I was miserable and MFin myself like you couldn't imagine, I knew I had just lost a big one.
Almost 2 hrs later and nothing in between, this time there was no playin..... she just grabbed it and ran, I waited a little longer this time before I flipped the lever and hooked it:cool: she was running the spool like I never even switched it over.
I kept adjusting the drag little at a time as I knew my line was lite and didn't want to snap it.... but it got to the point where I was either gonna tighten up and break the line or the fish was gonna spool me.
I'm pretty sure it was the same fish the first time, talk about luck:yes::beers:
