What is this intake worth?? I bid up to $115 and still was outbid. I am wanting to build my 396 with all Factory performance parts.

People who have a car with one of those old engines and want to restore it to factory original, will pay ANYTHING for that intake. Frankly I'm surprised it's still that cheap, I'll bet it ends up going for at least $200, maybe closer to $300. You're bidding against Vette nuts entering their cars in resto shows. Fugeddaboutit.

Unless that's what you're doing, and you just have to have a factory original rectangle-port intake for your 375HP or 425HP 427, get a modern intake. Those old old old intakes will get outrun every time by what we've learned and become capable of (CNC casting for example) in the 40 years since that one was made. Leave it to the "original" types, and get something that works instead, for ALOT less money.

Ditto RB above!

See if you can't scare up a Holley Contender/Street Dom. dual plane and just remove the cast logo's and go with it.

Or maybe an earlier E-brock dual plane.

Stealthed this way, most people are hard-pressed to know if it isn't stock or not...

And it will be a lot cheaper, imho...

What year is your car? Is it important for you to be able to say the year of the intake? The early date of that intake will easily see it double or more the bid price by the auction end.

Brand new BB dual planes go for $200+, so it is not unusual for excellent used used vintage intakes to be in the same price range.

If you really want vintage factory speed equipment, then you will have to join ranks with the restoration crowd and pay the price for a part in small supply.

i like using factory parts myself and i paid over $250 for a mint 3933163 which may be a more common rect port hi rise intake. nothing wrong with aftermarket products i just like going with GM as much as i can. i expect that intake you posted will go for pretty big bucks. something you have to watch out for when you are bidding in the numbers game. if you watch for the 163's they may be slightly cheaper because i think they may be more plentiful. just my opinion.

I picked a mint 163 off Ebay for the same reason as above, and ditto above, look for 163 intakes. Later year, to be sure, but its a simple Holley pad and it rips. Be SURE not to buy one with the plenum divider removed. Bad move.

Its not for a #'s matching restore, just wanted a original 396 intake for my original 69 JC code 350 horse 396.

Dosn't matter oval or rect, looking for either, just can't find a GM aluminum oval so have to go for the rect port. This is in a 80 Camaro and will have a Isky 270 mega cam, shooting for torque with this one.

Get a simple Performer 2-0. You can easily remove The Edelbrock and Performer script with a finishing type flap disc. Then coat the manifold with a satin high temp (316ss pigment) coating. I have mine done like this and it is virtually undetectable as being aftermarket.
