In one engine (a 383 sbc), we have 981 comp cams springs.
Specs:
Installed: 105 lbs @ 1.700 inch
Open: 295 lbs @ 1.250 inch
Spring rate: 417 lbs/in
Coil bind: 1.150.
The cam only has a lift of .480 in/ex. So coil bind is not an issue here. The rpm rarely see's 6K, but often sees 5.5K. My question is this, I have stock studs on the heads. At what point do you need to switch over to the screw in studs?
Thanks,
Fred.
