I'm installing a hydroboost system in my 66 and want to replace my stock power steering pump with the remote reservoir, besides it leaks. What is a good replacement pump but most of all who makes a good bracket set. Its for a big block. I understand that the stock pump works fine but I want to get rid of the remote reservoir but finding a nice bracket kit for a big block seems almost impossible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

alangrovecomponents.com makes brackets, and I have seen a March setup using one of the newer type pumps. The problem with the 66 - 67 cars is the driver side alt. There isn't a lot of room to put the PS pump under the alt., but I have seen it done.

This bracket set should work. These also show up on Ebay time and time again. I just bought one myself but will not be using it til winter when I put the engine back in. http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/403l-big-block-chevy-short-pump-p-s-bracket-266.php

If the biggest complaint is that it leaks, you can get a rebuild kit w/ the needed O-rings for a few bucks. You can also get a rebuilt pump w/o the can it lives in, clean your can, paint it, and put the new pump in the old can.

Just a thought...

I take that back. This will not work for 67 chevelle with big block. Tried it last night and ended up listing my brackets and pump both on Ebay. Just not enough clearance between the block and steering box for a pump with attached resevoir. Looks like I'll keep the remote type and maybe upgrade the resevoir to a chrome unit from summit or jegs.

What did you end up installing for your hydroboost system on your Chevelle? I'm also installing hydroboost on my 72 Chevelle, I purchased and based everything on a 76 Caddilac Eldorado for mine.

With the space constraints of the DS alternator you MUST run a remote reservoir PS pump. As stated if you have one and it leaks then rebuild/reseal it. Not hard nor a big deal.

Alan Grove has many brackets but not one to do a SWP BBC in a Chevelle.

That said, I did convert their LWP mid-mount bracket to use a '85 Cadillac Deville remote reservoir pump with a SWP. Took some fabrication and an idler pulley to do it though.

Fwiw, I have A/G's SWP BB drivers side low mount on my car now.

But it's a '67 Camaro, not a Chevelle.

Since I have the long water pump I just went ahead and purchased BBC brackets for my SBC power steeringpump, installing a tee in my factory return line and the rest of my hoses were from the 76 Caddilac along with the unit.
