I picked up this engine, I was told it's a pretty sweet engine does anyone have some insight about it for me?

Thanks,
James

it's basically a 350 with a short stroke, taller piston to make up the difference. I've had a couple, can't remember what ended up happening to them.

Base 210hp/327.

Install a topend off a 275hp or a 300hp/327 and it becomes either one but w/ a cast medium journal crank!

Add a set of cleaned up big valve double-hump heads and .020" shims, stock 11 to 1 pistons, an old Isky Z-30 solid lifter cam and a cheap set of 1.625" dia., 4-tube, long headers uncorked and you will be looking at like 440 hp imho!!

Yes, not much stock at 210hp, but it's a great starting point by me!

by adding performer manifold & 600 you'll have a motor that should run for a LONG time with just minimal maintenance........:D

or go Paul's way

Right, a 2101 Performer intake and a 600 puts him close to the 250hp/327 engine!

yes....... sell it to someone an build a 383

if this motor is as you say a sweet running motor I really don't see a reason to completely rebuild it into something its not...

you're going to have to change the pistons , heads , cam & lifters ........ might as well do a complete motor at that point.... IMO

or ....... drop it into the car & start collecting parts to build your killer motor :D while this little Jewel hauls you around

OK!

Get her up to at least 10.3 to 1 CR w/ .020" shims or 10.5 w/ .015" shims using early 62 cc medium valve double-hump heads, install an old Isky Z-25 solid lifter cam in her, a 600 Holley on a 300-36 intake and a cheap set of 1.625" dia., 4-tube, long tube headers uncorked and you will be a schosh above 400hp!!

Install big valve heads instead that are also 62 cc's and you will be above 425hp easy.

PS., the key here w/ your engine is the small chambered heads along w/ either .015" or .020" shim headgaskets!! You have to create a compression ratio that's at least 10.25 to 10.5 to 1 to make this kinda power w/ a smaller flat tappet solid lifter cam and uncorked headers!!
