I was wondering if a console from a 67 camaro and horseshoe shifter would fit in a 71 chevelle. Or is there some way to modify it to fit my chevelle. i really prefer this console more because you can put gauges in the console and i would like it in my car
has anyone else done this kind mod before??????

Use a chevelle shifter, the Camaro shifter won't fit the floor pan. The console might still work, not sure on the difference in floor pan contours. I was gonna put gauges in my console using the angle cups and holes in the top plate, but ended up going with a SS style dash instead.

I Dont Know But Man I Bet The New One Coming Out Would Be Sweet In A Chevelle
There is a lot of difference in the Chevelle trans tunnel when compared to a first gen Camaro. The Camaro tunnel is almost flat while Chevelle tunnel has a lot more angle to it. IMO the Camaro Console would sit at a strange angle and look out of place.

You can see the angular difference by comparing the consoles:
Camaro (using 4 speed pic due to better angle):

If you are thinking about installing the factory style Camaro gauges, they are not priced to be friendly to your wallet (avg $325 just for the gauge pack). Yeah they do make that 4 gauge Autometer provision style case, but IMO it is cheesy :D

I might be able to get a pic of a Camaro console sitting on a Chevelle floor as I own both cars and my Console for my Z28 is not installed.

yeah my friend has a camaro and hes gonna use it for drag racing and he gave me the console with the guages so i dont have to buy the guages or the console. I think with a few cuts and mods and adapting both car parts. i might be wrong.

This is just my opinion, but I would sell the Camaro stuff instead (if it is in good shape). A good OEM console with gauges will easily pay for a new console kit for a Chevelle ($250-300) and a few after market gauges.

This suggestion would be money in your pocket.

Id like to see a pic of a Camaro console with sawtooth gauges, was thinking about that.
Installed the SS gauges in my dash last night. Look neat and everything but honestly they look kinda small, not sure I like it. Yet.

Camaro gauge pod is too different as well without some major mods. That aftermarket pod setup is what I would have done to mine, but inline instead of pairs side by side.

I had a custom console made for my 70 because of shifter location. Not cheap but it works.
