okay....it looks like i have to remove my cam cover....this scrapping noise is coming from under the cover.....how much work is it?.....do i have to lower the oil pan?....i wondering if i can do it in my garage or i should bring it to my shop and put it up on the lift?....i seem to be having some oil leakage from my head since i replace the Edelbrock with the Holley....there is a local guy here in CA that has a 502 crate motor for sale for $5000 that he is selling...2005 never ran......i could prossibly squeeze him to $4000 i dunno.....i wonder if i'm going to keep on having problems with this 396.....i don't beat on my cars....but i do redline them on a daily basis

I have done it in the car in the garage. Take out the two bolts that hold the pan to the cover then go back about 4 bolts on each side of the oil pan and loosen them just enough to get the timing chain cover off. Real easy

You can do it in the garage. Ive done it in the driveway many times. Shouldnt be a big deal.

I have the same problem after a I put a double roller timing chain in...so what is the solution to stop the scraping noise? Do they make a deeper cover for the double-rollers??

Yes that is a somewhat common problem with double rollers and some timing covers simply not deep enough... Milidon makes one thats strong fairly inexpensive and works good with a double roller...
