I have a 70 Chevelle with a 350 engine. The problem I have is the driver side sits about 3/4" lower than the passenger side (no occupants). I have shifted the springs around but to no avail. Can I spin the driver side spring in the lower control arm to get the proper height I need? What could be causing this problem? Has anyone else had this problem? The car has never been wrecked and everything under the car is new and restored to like new condition.
Thanks

without sounding like a jerk....

is the tire pressure the same left front/right front?

Were the springs new when installed?

Pictures?

where are you measuring from?

The tires have 32 lbs of air. The springs are not original. I put a/c springs on a car without a/c to get more lift. Gets another inch or so, looks great. Have switched springs from side to side doesn't make a difference. Totally stumped. Everything underneath is new.
Thanks

The springs have a correct position for installation. You can't really just shift them around or spin them.

The top should be flat and the bottom should fit into the control arm which is shaped to accept the shape of the spring.

Mine was that way too. I think the frames just settle over the years. Not that they were all that perfect to begin with.

What condition are the body mount bushings?

I found the same discrepancy when measuring from ground to fender lip. I started measuring from center of hub/wheel to fender lip and the problem went away. Unless you have the car on a level rack, don’t worry about it.

This was my problem but couldnt really see how bad until I yanked the back bumper and front fender and saw pancaked and cracked bushings on the driver side. Then it was an "ah, well there ya go" moment.

I have owned this car for 35 years and it is in excellent condition above and below (Garage kept). Recently I have gone through everything to freshen up (detail) except the body bushings. I do remember seeing cracks in the bushings but never suspected them of causing this problem. I'll take a closer look and see about replacing them. Thanks for all your input.
