Bill Taylor (the BT in BTE) was the guy that started TCI. My late little bro worked there in the late 70s and early 80s. Bill took less and less interest in it after he moved it from Memphis to Ashland MS in about 85 or 96, and sold it in about 88 or 89.

I think Bill knows a thing or 2 about torque converters.

Incidentally, if you see Luanti & Taylor stuff anywhere, that's a partnership between Bill Taylor and Joe Lunati, who sold his company too. Joe of course sold his to Holley.

I've never used BTE products, but there is a great thread about converter construction here :

Brandon from BTE takes you through the steps of building a converter. Since I will need a converter this year, BTE is at the top of my list after that post. Oldani Motorsports has great prices and even better tech service. He posts here and on a lot of other boards.

I got an 11inch from him and I can't wait to try it.

On the outside except for being a little larger,it looks like my ATI Treemaster.

It sure "Looks" a lot tougher than my TCI 11inch.

If it works well and stays togather it will be well worth the price.I think it was only like 20 more bucks than a TCI 11inch fron Jeg's/Summit.

I bought my 9.5" BTE from Bubba. Works great, and it's ultra tight for nitrous/street use. No complaints here! They hit the stall within 100 RPM on my combination.

I got my 9.5 BTE from Steve. Should stall in the 4500 range. I`ll be installing it in the next few weeks.

BTE makes a great product as does ATI, Coan and others. Just make sure you have your homework done on your powerrange and performance goals before you order. Having someone such as Steve Oldani to help you is a great bonus.
