: rear frame brace any good?

I have a 68 and wondered if that brace that goes between the frame and the upper control arm mount area does anything to make this worth buying for any particular reason? The places that sell them say something to the effect that an immediate difference is noticed. Sounds like a stretch to me.

Thanks

I don't know that you'd really notice anything different if you bolted in a set of braces. ... but that said, they aren't a bad idea at all, particularly if you will be driving the car hard, or have a stick-shift. They help triangulate your frame and control arm mounts, to prevent some frame flexing or twisting, and they could help reduce some stress on the control arm mounts. The factory installed them on the stick cars, and cars with the "performance" suspension.

I don't know what a set of factory style braces sells for, but the tubular aftermarket ones (I have hotchkiss ones) weren't that expensive 7-8 years ago - I don't know what they sell for now. I wanted to drag race my 4-speed car with sticky tires, and I felt that the added insurance and stiffening provided by the frame braces wouldn't hurt. But maybe they just made my wallet lighter :D

Good idea for racing/hard driving.
