Is there someone that re-pops the housings that bolt to the dash for the 1989 Astro Vents. The housing parts that hold the round ball vents themselves? It looks like they are only held by 3 screws onto the dash. My 69SS is missing both sides and I have seen the ball vents themselves new but not the housings for them that attach to the dash itself. Also, is 1968 the same as 1969?
I can post a pic of one if needed.
I don't believe these are re-popped. Just keep watching ebay and you'll find a set in short order. One of the problems with these is that they are two piece, held together with flimsy plastic tabs that are guaranteed to break. The two piece portion I refer to is the outer bezel and inner portion that sandwich the vent ball. After that is a plastic adapter that connects to a plastic tube.
If you can, find a set with an original ball that has not been separated. Get them good and warm before you try to lift the two little "U" shaped tabs that keep the outer bezel and inner portion connected. You might actually save them. Note: mark the different portions of these parts with a paint index, for correct re-assembly.
If these break, you can put the two halves together and use a small amount of PVC cement to connect what is left of the tabs to the inner portion. Make sure you have the felt gaskets in before putting these together.
FYI, www.oldmusclecars.com sells a repop vent ball that is outstanding in shape and chrome. A little better than the commonly sold OER brand.

I think NPD had them at one point. They were chromed plastic though.
I thought you could get all the parts iirc. Maybe they stopped making them?

Can anyone confirm if 1968 is the same as 1969?

Chris. There are not the same.
I'm not really sure that 68's had Astro Ventilation?

I think he is taking about the bezel part that holds the vent ball. The 68 bezel and the 69 are not the same.

That answers my question. They really did look similiar but oh well. I figured they may have been the same but just called Astro vents in 69 as if a marketing sort of thing.

In 68 the dash vent housings are used in AC equipped cars only. Not the same though.
